My Parisienne Journey in New York

Hi lovely readers!

Let Me Introduce Myself

My name is Ariane and I am from France.

I come from Paris, more precisely the suburbs (but close one) where the next stop on the subway is Paris, in less than 45min I can be in the center of Paris.

My favorite brand is Chanel, Britney Spears is my idol, pink is my favorite color, I love kitty cats, travel, go to museums and see art or fashion exhibitions. What I love to do in New York is to find the best French places, that have the best bakeries, sell the best biscuits, and where I can eat as if I am in France. Of course, I don’t only eat French, I love to eat other types of food ( I love Asian food ! ). I am very good with colors. I am trying more and more to wear sustainable brands. I love Reformation and Faithfull The Brand.

My Trip From Paris to New York

I love fashion, I studied Fashion Design at ESMOD Paris and graduated in 2014 from Accessories class. I always dreamed to live in the US since I am a tween and in 2015 I came here to realize the biggest dream of mine: live in America and work with my favorite celebrities. I had the best year of my life in New York with one of my best friends, we even went to Miami and the Keys and had the time of our lives!

So I did an unpaid Fashion Design internship in a small lingerie brand where I first heard and learned about Fashion Styling, but I didn’t experience doing it until the beginning of 2016. I enjoyed my time learning and growing in the fashion industry and thought it was fun and nice to decide outfits for shootings. Then for 2 years, I was fully dedicated to learning and assisting  Fashion Stylists.

Most of the time I wasn’t paid because there is never a budget for assistants. I realized in Fashion, they don’t like to pay interns or assistants, they want you to prove yourself. Either you are in Paris, New York or London it is the same for everyone. Few companies pay. And in France, there is a law that obligates the companies to pay you if you do an internship that is more than two months. Of course, lot of companies try to abuse this law in fashion and will do only 2 months and then ask you to do two new months.

Being an assistant ( or intern ) is a lot of work, you will carry a lot of bags, and get zero recognition ( especially from PR desk people). But I got the chance to do what I wanted when I was younger: live in the US and do fashion.

I worked on different kind of shootings, with different stylists ( some I loved and still love to work with ), I went to Fashion shows at the NYFW but launching my own career as a Fashion Stylist was difficult, I couldn’t find any clients and then I realized that is not what I really want to do. I really would love to work with pop stars and so I decided to launch my own blog and do what I love to do: styling.
