My Top 10 Styling Tips

Hi Lovely readers!

Today I am going to tell you my top 10 styling tips. Let’s do it!

  1. Organize and edit your closet

First, you need to declutter: donate, sell, or throw away everything you don’t wear anymore or won’t.
I recommend watching the show on Netflix with Marie Kondo, it is really great and you get a lot of tips from it!

Then, you need to organize your closet. What I like to do is to put everything in categories. I start with tops then, bottoms (shorts, skirts, long skirts) a romper, jumpsuits, and dresses. Then I class them by colors so it is easier for me to see everything.
If you wonder where are my jeans and workout clothes, it is in my dresser. As well as my sweatshirts and hoodies, bathing suits, homewear, and underwear.

Last tips, invest in a shoe rack so you can visualize easily and don’t have to search for 1h your favorite pair of shoes!

  2. Invest in good quality pieces

Sometimes it can be expensive but if you can save your money and buy one good quality clothes instead of buying a cheap one that will tear away after 2months, it will change your life. You will keep those clothes longer and save money because add all the money you spend on cheap clothes all the time.

  3. Do not wear too many different colors at once

You need to balance because you will send too many messages and people’s eyes won’t be able to focus. You can look at the wheels of color to help you, opposite colors on the wheel go well together.

  4. Do not wear too many patterns and prints at the same time

It is like colors, too much info for the brain and it is hard to focus. If you match prints, do 2, not 3 (stripes and florals go well together). Do not forget to match the colors of your prints!

  5. Match your accessories

I match my shoes with either my top or bottoms. Or if not, I match my bag to my shoes.
There are some exceptions if I wear a blue dress I won’t wear blue shoes but when I have a 3 pieces outfits, that is when I match my accessories to what I am wearing.

  6. Accessories will make any outfit look different

It depends on what shoes you will wear, sneakers or heels; your type of bag: backpack or It-Bag; belts, what kind of hat you are going to wear, sunglasses, and your jewelry.

  7. Have a fashion styling kit

You never know when you need it: the seam on your favorite shirt is starting to detach, a lost button on your dress etc etc.. You get what I am talking about.
Everything you need is in my previous article here

  8. An easy trick to measure your jean size

You need to put it around your neck. If both extremities touch perfectly (without overlapping or stretching) it means it will fit you. If it doesn’t then it is too small.

  9. Prepare your outfit the night before

It will save you time in the morning. More mornings are rushed, especially if you have kids, and you don’t have the mind to really think about it or it takes too much time and you end up wearing the same outfit too many times. If you do it the night before, you have more time to think about what you want to wear but also prepare it, last-minute ironing or steaming, as well as maybe clean your shoes or bag, take off dust or pets hair on your pull.

What I like to do in on Sunday I iron my clothes for the week and on the function of the weather and what type of day it will be, I can decide better what I am going to wear.

  10. Do not be afraid to try new things

Try colors you never thought you will wear (of course be careful it will fit your skin tone), patterns or other types of clothes (mum or skinny jeans, balloon sleeves tops etc etc…)

As we say in french « only fools never change their mind »
